What we think is anti-establishment is establishment.
We've become the thing that we stood against. All this potential, being squandered. I'm thinking Fight Club is what we really need. If you open your mind and let go, it will change your life. It will have you sizing people up. You'll start wearing more red. You'll look at ads and start asking "why?
You'll realize a controlling woman is the last thing you need in your life. You'll appreciate soap. You'll laugh at others trying to get the perfect selfie. You'll start thinking for yourself. Trust me, Tyler. Helpful Report abuse. I waited a while to finally see this movie after going through a list of "Top Twist Ending Movies" that I downloaded and planned to watch later. First, this was not what I consider to be a "twist". The movie was written so poorly, that if you have plain common sense, it's not hard to figure everything out 10 minutes in.
After the Narrator he mentions he suffers of insomnia, you already know that this movie happens entirely in his imagination. I also did not like the movie set where all of the scenes took place. Actually there was no set.
Everything was done in a very low budget-y "we-have-no-money-to-build-a-set-so-let's-just-use-an-old-abandoned-crack-house-for-free" kind of way. Looks like it was filmed in one spot where you were constantly being "walked" around corners from room to room.
Very closed in. Maybe they were trying to drive home the fact that the entire movie took place in ones head IDK. Either way, they didn't invest much. Acting was poor, it should have done without the Narration - which I hate because it tends to be insulting Some parts were just thrown in "just because" but had no real point other than to be grotesque.
Like Brad Pitt urinating in the food. Good actors don't need to rely on gotcha moments, just to get a point across about the character's personality traits. Their acting is convincing enough to show through. The guy with the breasts Audience didn't need an extreme and unrealistic physical trait to convince people that he was depressed.
The actor should have been able to convey this part of his personality in his acting. He wasn't. Much of what happens in this movie is very unrealistic, such that it should have been in the genre for Fantasy instead of Drama or Thriller. If you like confusing movies that border on becoming silly and ridiculous midway through, like "Get Out" , then go for it.
Otherwise, this is more appropriate for cult followers who will watch and like it for no apparent reason other than it being a fad or because Brad Pitt's name is associated with it. Movie was was such a fail, I don't even want to waste more time typing about it. I wish I could get a refund or unsee it. Yes, it was THAT bad.
Fight Club is an amazingly weird and strange movie that actually portrays the problems with capitalism, a revolution against it, and then what went wrong. It was directed by David Fincher and has all his trademarks. For instance, everything is filmed in a very dark hue. There are very few shots with bright lights. That fits the mood of the film. It features Edward Norton and Bradd Pitt as the two main characters.
Norton begins talking about how his job at a car company is a boring and monotonous one. He says everything is a copy of a copy of a copy. He keeps this job because he is such a consumer. He goes home and reads the Ikea catalog and orders all of the latest products like a table with the ying-yang sign on it.
The next act is the organization of the revolution. Norton loses his apartment and moves in with Durden. They start a fight club which eventually garners a large following. They meet at night and fight, where they finally feel like people freed from their 9 to 5 jobs. Durden and Norton use this as a device to organize workers to at first carry out acts of vandalism meant to mock corporate America.
They go to a video store and eras all the movies using a magnet. They put out a bunch of bird feed on top of a car dealership so the next day all the vehicles are covered in bird poo. The last act is what is wrong with the revolution. Everyone dresses and looks alike. They repeat mantras that Durden has given them. Norton ends up rejecting the plan and tries to stop Durden.
In these three acts the message of the story is laid out. Capitalism is a soulless system that lies to people that they can be successful when it actually just wants people to spend more money so companies can make more money. The attempt to overthrow that system is no better as it just replaces one system of control with another. The alternative to those two is laid out in the conclusion, but you have to watch the film to figure out what that is.
You would never know this from the start however. Then that skips to Norton going to a recover meeting, and then to his job. You can learn more and more about it each time you see it. I actually liked this movie when I was young and dumb. It seems that most of its viewers enjoy it.
Does it bother any of them that the protagonist enjoys making children see penises? How about the celebration of the idea of a grade schooler having sex? The rest of the movie be damned - it is clear what the real infatuations of Hollywood are. And nowadays, this reality seems to be borne out over and over in the press on a regular basis.
Amusing message kon kan can
